In October, President Kaptan June spent a pleasant 5 days on the island of Bozcaada, invited by the oranisers for the island’s annual film festival.
After making the 10 hour journey to Turkey’s north east coast by car with friends, she was joined on the island – near Çanakkale and The Dardanelles – by Barbara Trottnow, an old friend, whose documentary film “Kaptan June” would be screened as part of the festival.
Our President spent 5 lively days enjoying film viewings, trips around the island, meeting friends old and new, wine tasting …… Bozcaada is famous for its vineyards.
The highlight of the Festival for Kaptan June was the screening of the film “Kaptan June”. Though not in the competition, the story of Dalyan and the turtles and Kaptan June was enthusiastically received.
After a final look-back at the old-style town – blue painted doors and cobbled streets with a medievil castle dominating the port – Kaptan June embarked on the 20 minute voyage back to the mainland and then back home to Dalyan. She says “Thank You to the film festival organisers for inviting me – I look forward to next year’s Festival.”
